when my skald (hybrid classification) activated it, i was given the choice between Caster or Combat orientation... i choose combat obviously... as a result the crown gives +18 con and levels off of people able to channel magic.  Dec 19

Strategy:

loc of Zahur is Oceanus Boreal, 28k, 20k     Dec 3

This encounter is really quite a cinch...  we did it with 2 healers, 1 shammy, 1 dark SM (me) and rest were tanks (one tnak was a warrior bot).  We engaged Zahur, and I instantly jumped on Danth (can't remember full name).  Danth is a cave shammy and a real cinch.  I was able to nuke him down very easily.  Basically when you start nuking him he runs away from you and casts again.  if you get real close he will melee you, and he hits harder melee than his DOT does (both dot and melee hit me for under 200 though, and I had bad resists atm).  What you can do is send pet at him and nuke him a lot.
 
The rest is pretty straightforward.  Kill energies when each minion dies (energies are weak to magic) and then kill Zahur.  You only need 1 caster to take care of Danth at the beginning of the fight.  Don't let the purple con fool you a solo caster can take him down, I didn't even need to be healed.  After danth is down the rest is a cinch.  May 19 2004

Tips:

Done with a 50 Mana Chanter, 50 Mana Ment, and 48 Druid Buffbot.  This was really hard and took 4-5 tries but we finally got it and it was easily worth it.  We started out by simply sending the pet at them and putting up focus.  Make sure to send ur pet at the caster or else she can make big problems by coming off on healers.  Just keep FS up and ignore Zahur/other minions.  The casters health should go down quite fast and once he is below 20% put ur pet on passive and allow the caster to run away from the rock a bit, because his health is low, your pet should be able to catch him again and kill him. 

At this time put ur pet on Zahur and kill the energy by any means u can.  This shouldnt be that hard because DoTs will stick pretty easily and if u use your heat debuff your DDs will do a decent amount of damage.  Once this enrgy is dead kill the tank minion (he should be at low health already.  Make sure u have a decent amount of power before he dies or u will not be able to kill energy. 

Finally, let the healing minion live, he takes too much effort to kill and does not heal Zahur or do very much damage, just leave him on pet the entire battle.  From here on out it's pretty simple, just keep pet on zahur and put up focus whenever u can until his ultimate attack.  Here we may have gotten lucky, it hit our druid twice leaving him with 20% health and the ment once nearly killing him too.  However we were all still alive and zahur had low health so again, just focus, res, focus, rest, until he dies.  He dropped the Crown, the Bracer, and his necklace, all very good items.   Jun 13 2004

Have everyone spread out a bit, as Zahur and some of the minions will cast some AE spells that will interrupt your healers. Most of the minions can be mezzed, tho it might take several tries for it to stick. Just assist and take down the minions, then focus on Zahur.  Feb 24

We did Crown of Zahur encounter tonight on Alb Galahad with 1fg. Had 2 clerics, 1 friar, 2 pallys, 1pbt theurg, 1 arms, and me (scout), all 50's. We killed the minions one at a time, starting with cave shammy one, then the others. The 'energies' went back slowly to the rock and we had no problem killing them before they got there even without heavy nukes.

Zahur did port all over the place, including back to his rock, but he never re-summoned his friends. I guess we got lucky. We only had one death in our party the whole time. This encounter is definitely do-able with one group...only bad part was that he didn't drop the crown, and some party members didn't get credit.   Feb 2

2fg+ to take him down, I’ve heard of a perfect fg of mids doing this with a power/healing field so….  Zahur himself hates melee big time and is highly immune to all magic.  His minions hate magic.  I’m not sure what type of magic works best on his minions but our suppression spirit masters (spirit) had a good ole time with them.

Basically:
1) go find him near his rock.  Sometimes he leaves his rock and can roam pretty far away from it but he’s always near it at 28/20 boreal.

2) Have a tank grab Zahur while the rest of the horde works on each minion one by one.  It really doesn’t matter which order you do but I think Dan is a cave shammy and you know how damaging they can be.

Once a minion dies you MUST nuke the hell out of their ‘energy’.  The energy has low resists to all magic that we midgaardians could tell.  When killing the minions make sure they are fairly far away from the rock otherwise you won’t have time to kill the minion’s ‘energy’.  If the ‘energy’ reaches the rock their magical powers will be useable by Zahur and Zahur’s melee resists increase dramatically.

3) Start killing Zahur.  He will teleport all over the place so be aware.  Archers should just use /face and rapid fire, you’ll do the most damage to him then anyone else.  Zahur has very low melee resists and very high magic resists.

4) During the fight Zahur will teleport back to his rock now and then to resummon his minions.  When he does this repeat steps 2 and 3.

So in conclusion: Kill Minions, Kill Minion’s Energy, Kill Zahur, Zahur teleports summons new minions, rinse and repeat until dead.

Bring as many hitters as you bring nukers to this guy.   Jan 8
